The State 'Healthcare IT Connect' Summit is produced by Healthcare IT Connect in partnership with The National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO).
The 2 & 1/2 day program is a National Leadership forum for Federal, State and Private Sector organizations to discuss the role of State Health IT modernization and transformation in advancing HITECH and enabling the health reform process.
June 21 - The Health IT Agenda of Health Reform
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) further recognizes the need to develop and better ways of delivering and paying for health care that incentivize higher value care and foster greater accountability of healthcare cost management and quality outcomes. As part of the health reform process by 2014 states are required to implement Health Insurance Exchange IT systems, HIE eligibility systems and updating or replacing legacy Medicaid eligibility systems due to the massive increase in enrollment.
June 22 – Advancing ARRA/HITECH
ARRA's HITECH Act is incentivizing widespread adoption and transformation of technology so that all American will have an electronic health record by 2014. State Health Information Exchange (State HIE) will be responsible for increasing connectivity and enabling patient centric information flow as a way to improve the quality and efficiency of care. State designated Regional Extension Centers (RECs) will provide additional support for provider adoption of health IT (EMR and HIE).
