State Health IT leaders from across the country attended the inaugural State Healthcare IT Connect Advisory Board convened via teleconference on December 12th to discuss the upcoming State Healthcare IT Connect Summit (April1-2, Baltimore, MD) and additional educational programs that will help states benchmark their implementation strategies as they move forward with diverse health reform agendas. The agenda for the conference call included a history of the annual conference, now entering into it’s 5th year, NASCIO’s Healthcare Working Group leader Chad Grant provided an overview of State CIO priorities to support Health IT transformation as well as NASCIOs partnership with Healthcare IT Connect over the previous 4 years.

Rick Friedman and Megan Lape both representing the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) also presented during the call talking to the work being supported by APHSA through the National Workgroup on Integration towards interoperability goals and the horizontal integration of health and human services. The APHSA have recently joined the 2014 State Healthcare IT Connect Summit as a co-sponsor organization alongside the eHealth Initiative (eHI), NASCIO and Official Media Sponsor Health Affairs.

The summit early agenda was also discussed between advisory board members as an opportunity to provide input on topics and to nominate projects and presentations for consideration, a follow up survey was issued by Healthcare IT Connect to further gather input from advisory board members, this data will be used alongside speaking proposals already submitted to finalize the conference session details to be announced in coming weeks. Government representatives are able to register to attend the conference at the complimentary rate early bird industry registration for the event ends on December 30th. Registration details are available here.
