Data Sharing Agreement Links Illinois and Missouri

Date: December 13, 2013||   0  Comments

Physicians in Missouri and Illinois will be able to share digital patient information with greater speed and ease thanks to a new agreement between the Illinois Health Information Exchange (ILHIE) and Missouri Health Connection (MHC).  Patients in each of the states often cross states lines to obtain care.

“Healthcare does not neatly follow state borders, so information about patients needs to follow them wherever they go,“ said Raul Recarey, Executive Director of ILHIE.

ILHIE links more than 2,000 providers to MHC’s network, which spans some 45% of all inpatient care provided in Missouri.  More than 7,000 physicians will be able to securely access patient information, once the network connections are fully built out and stood up.
