ACOs Struggling to Use Just One Model

As experts try to figure out organization and the most effective payment models for ACOs, they tend to agree, “There is no one-size-fits-all solution” for ACOs. In fact, two models are currently under the microscope, one managed by physician groups and the second by aligned physicians and hospitals or health systems. In this case, it’s not about which one will come out on top.

“It’s not a question of either one or the other; it’s a question about how we can best organize all resources in a community to better manage health, coordinate care and provide highest-quality services in the right setting, at the right time.”

At the end of the day, if one model is chosen, then opportunity for competition will be lost. Competition is what drives growth.
