Tufts Medical Center reportedly harvested Twitter data to update it patient count following the bombing at the Boston Marathon site.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Association also used Twitter to steer concerned people away from placing phone calls and toward texts, which use less bandwidth.

Blood donation efforts were also coordinated via integral assistance from social media communications.
