Rebecca Perlmutter is Maryland’s Clostridium difficile infection surveillance officer and a healthcare associate infections epidemiologist with the state of Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Becky has been leading Maryland’s Emerging Infections Program’s C. difficle surveillance for almost 7 years, but prior to becoming an epidemiologist, she spent several years in the state’s food microbiology and rabies labs. While working on her Masters in Public Health at Johns Hopkins, Becky trapped rats in Baltimore City to look at the prevalence of Seoul Virus.
