Possible Changes to Medicare Payments
President Obama’s new federal budget is projected to include $400 billion in cuts to Medicare and a number of other key health programs.
As part of a potential compromise between Democrats and Republicans, one draft of the budget provides for changes in the way deductibles and coinsurance are billed in Medicare A and B. Billing each separately is generally agreed to be a relic of the 1960s when Medicare was first implemented.
