Mississippi Fails to reauthorize Medicaid
The Mississippi House of Representative failed to bring bipartisan support to authorize the funding of Medicaid after the end of fiscal 2013.
The Affordable Care Act would have expanded Medicaid coverage to 300,000 additional Mississippians, but has received very little support from the staunchly Republican stronghold.
“We want to continue the discussion about Medicaid expansion,” House Democratic leader Bobby Moak said. “Now, it’s clearly in the governor’s court. If the governor wants to call a special session, we can all sit down and talk as adults and discuss it.”
