Massachusetts Competitive Grant Program to boost HIE

MeHI HIT Grant Program

The Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) launched a significant HIT grant program worth $1.5 million May 23rd announcing funds available to develop, test or deploy a Direct Project-complaint interface utilizing the Mass HIway services. Any Health Information Technology vendor with 4 or more current production implementations in Massachusetts can submit their proposal by June 17, 2013. Awards will be announced by early July. Successful applicants may receive award amounts up to $150,000. The average amount is expected to be approximately $75,000.

The MeHI grant is intended to support Health Record (EHR), Clinical Information System (CIS) and other care management system vendors who are either developing Direct Project-compliant interface that will use the services of the Massachusetts state-wide HIE, the Mass HIway, or implementing an existing interface at customers in the Commonwealth.
