HIX hit with glitches, delays after early rush
Some technical challenges were reported after the October 1st launch of health insurance exchanges (HIX), currently being rebranded as insurance marketplaces. The sites, designed by private contractors, reportedly suffered problems under extremely high user traffic.
Certain users reported their accounts did not work after being established, while others had trouble establishing new accounts.
The White House reportedly declined to identify the private contractors who designed the sign-up features in question, though many parties involved seemed to agree that although there were bugs still to be fixed, signs of high demand from users appeared to be encouraging.
