Fall 2012 Accountable Care & Health IT Strategies Summit Preview: NorthShore University HealthSystem
Since 2010, NorthShore HealthSystem positioned itself as one of the pioneering organizations at the forefront of ACO formation. NorthShore University HealthSystem maintains an advanced electronic medical record (EMR) system fully integrated across a network of four hospitals and more than 80 physician offices.
NorthShore’s EMR is interfaced with its Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) housed in its Center for Clinical and Research Informatics (CCRI). Their stated goal is to preserve and improve human life through innovative collection and use of clinical data. CCRI builds upon NorthShore’s award-winning electronic health record and extensive data warehouse to be a nationally recognized leader in clinical research informatics.
NorthShore University HealthSystem Medical Group represents more than 550 physicians with many specialties, all on staff at the hospitals of NorthShore University HealthSystem. The NorthShore Physician Associates have 75 offices in neighborhoods throughout Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois. Over the years, NorthShore University HealthSystem Medical Group has grown to be one of the largest physician organizations in the country.
Recently, NorthShore announced its inclusion in the Mayo Clinic Care Network, offering, along with other members group access to the latest Mayo Clinic expertise to help care for their patients.
NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) and Mayo Clinic today announced NorthShore as a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. This unique collaboration, the only one of its kind in the Chicago region, will provide NorthShore patients with access to medical resources and experts from both systems working together on their behalf. The agreement formalizes a longstanding relationship between the two institutions and promotes the collaborative efforts of physicians dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of complex medical conditions, including neurological, cancer and cardiovascular cases.
In addition to pursuing efforts across the accountable care front, NorthShore also unveiled its new Ambulatory Care Center in Gurnee. The new ACC was built to bring specialty services like neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, surgery, urology and gastroenterology to Gurnee. Primary care is available seven days a week and the facility also offers radiology and lab services on-site. NorthShore University HealthSystem is a recently accredited palliative care provider, following an extensive onsite review from the Joint Commission.
