EMRs Migrate to Montana
Electronic medical records, a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care, and less invasive surgeries will shape health care at Missoula’s two hospitals in 2013.
St. Patrick Hospital and Community Medical Center are excited that electronic medical records will be fully up and running in the new year, bringing with the new system best administrative practices.
“Innovation can only happen once you have standardized,” said Jeff Fee, St. Patrick Hospital CEO.
With the new records system, physicians in other hospitals and clinics across the region can be easily tapped for advice, guidance and input on patient care, and the sharing of patient information can happen quickly.
What it means is that the medical knowledge pool to serve patients will be increased exponentially, Fee said.
New partnerships with other hospitals and care providers will be a significant outcome of the technology shift with medical records, said Steve Carlson, CEO of Community Medical Center.
