Robert Myles, CISSP, CISM, joined Symantec October 17, 2011 as the State and Local Government and Education (SLED) National Practice Manager, in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Myles has over twenty-five years in the planning, management and control of Information Technology and Information Security. He began his career in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he gained significant security and law enforcement knowledge, including a federal security clearance and experience in Information Security, Technology, Business and Disaster recovery, Project Management, Strategic Risk Assessment, and Contingency Planning. Retiring as a commissioned officer from the Coast Guard, Robert continued to build on a mix of healthcare, computing and security experience in a diverse array of industries, including a bio-medical startup business, three healthcare systems, two university/healthcare environments and a financial services firm.
Within Symantec, Robert’s role is focusing on the Public Safety, Public Health & HIE/HIX Market verticals, with responsibilities including all aspects for developing, defining, and maintaining Symantec programs to address complex Public Sector Client initiatives. He is also responsible for working with industry thought leaders and standards organizations on information protection solutions for their initiatives. He supports the Sales teams on specific opportunities to drive revenue growth. One of his key skills is assisting organizations meet compliance requirements in highly regulated industries through a comprehensive understanding & knowledge of Federal/State/Local Regulatory Compliance in both Privacy & Security.
In addition to holding an elected role as the EVP, for the North Texas Infragard chapter, Mr. Myles is a member of the Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA) and International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., (ISC)². Robert also maintains membership on theHealth Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)Privacy & Security Task Force, the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA) Privacy & Security Task Force, and the Global Cybersecurity Innovation Leadership Team. In addition, Mr. Myles also participates in the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO), National Association of Counties (NACo) and Integrated Justice Information Systems (IJIS) organizational forums.
Robert holds a BS degree in Business Management and Communications from Concordia University and certifications as both a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and as a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
