John Supra is the Deputy Director for Information Management and Chief Information Officer at South Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services. Mr. Supra is responsible for the Department’s Eligibility Policy and Operations, Claims Operations and Provider Relations, Project Management, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Since joining SCDHHS, he has been a driving force behind Department-wide performance improvement initiatives and innovations including: Lean Six Sigma training, use of Express Lane Eligibility options, consolidation and standardization of claims processing and resolution activities, and major information technology modernizations. Mr. Supra also is active in state and national efforts to transform Medicaid policies, operations and systems in order to ensure that the program delivers positive health outcomes for those most in need in ways that are sustainable and cost effective.
Mr. Supra brings a significant background and experience in enterprise software development with an emphasis in modern web-based technologies. Most recently, he was vice president and chief technology officer at DigitalFusion where he was responsible for the design, development and operations of DFStudio, a leading online application for the professional photography industry. Prior to DigitalFusion, he was a vice president at Resource Directory Group where he oversaw the database development and publishing operations for a series of social service resource guides. Supra has also served as vice president and chief technologist for the OnStation Corporation [subsequently acquired by Cobalt/ADP] where he led the application development and technical operations for an online solution that delivers customer relationship management in the automotive industry. Mr. Supra holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
